Phoenix Development
An oasis in the desert or a blight on the landscape? Whichever it is I was taken by the incongruity of the place and the amazing lines and colors. This was shot from a hill in the desert just outside this development where the city ended and the desert began.

Disgusting. Why can't people realize that this is a desert, and through out the West there are growing water problems because of this type of construction! So lets keep raping the land and build more golf courses and water fountains...in the desert.

Thanks everybody. Good question about the water. I have no idea.
Dave, I understand your frustration. This is scene is so out of place. The scene in my photographer's eye was a thing of beauty, yet my mind could not get the truth of it what it was and where it was. -

Excellent photo!

perfect for this theme. Phoenix needs to understand water for things like this and golf courses steals water from the world.

this is an amazing entry. About water - this is a moral and ethical problem. Yet it is not widely discussed in schools etc. Usually, where is water there is no discussion about it....

Fascinating and scaring at the same time... Stunning entry - you have my vote!

The incongruity of the beauty and what we know about overdevelopment of the desert is what makes this photo work, especially for this theme.
Wow.... -

when i first saw the thumbnail, i thought this was streams of lava flowing into a lake - an interesting contrast. great entry!
