nice shot. I love it and hate it at the same time. I hate to see our people hurt but proud and thankful for all the brave young men and woman serving in this war, to protect our country. Thank You.

"Freedom isn't free" is not just a cliche. My eighteen year old son is giving his all every day in Afghanistan; sleeping with rats. My son that I would give my own life for and I would not want him anywhere else because our country and our freedom is worth it. This young man, my son, and all of our military are heroes not to be forgotten for their sacrifices and bravery.

Was going to nix this as just a patriotic cliché, but you juxtapose the injury and hurt against the military symbolism very well, and refresh the messages for us. May all our dutiful and brave young people come home soon, and may it have been for a good purpose.

I love this photo being a photojournalist for 36 years. It's very powerful and defintely fits the title. May I just say I would have toned down the bright area so my eye wouldn't immediately go to that bright spot if-you will. First, the hand on the heart and then I read into the injured soldier that served his Country. I'm not trying to pick the photo apart because the elements and composition are excellent. Just that one little thing. Great photo!
