What exactly is a sustainable resource? Especially when that resource is a rare and valuable one.
Nature is possibly the most valuable resource we have and Africa still has large areas that have been proclaimed conservation areas. With added pressure on post colonial land and royal or sacred ground for agricultural needs, we look to ecotourism to conserve our most precious of resources.
Ecotourism is: "Responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people." (TIES, 1990)
