The Dump

Our rising generation of excess and disposability is creating an unsustainable, unhealthy, and uninhabitable world. Here, illegal dumping sits at the base of lushly forested mountains in Port Renfrew, BC. Home to Black Bears, Bald Eagles, Salmon, Elk and many other wild animals, this is their frontyard.
Today's lifestyle tends toward a great lack of ownership and responsibility for our actions as we slowly trade our sense of community for self servance. Be it the constant buck passing by politicians or the general thought that "someone else" will eventually fix whatever mess we make, it is simply the case of the ostrich with its head in the sand. The responsibility is on everyone’s hands but I think people need to be reminded of how much impact their choices do actually have. Remember to vote with your dollar by purchasing eco-friendly products and not supporting companies that don't share sustainable values. Reduce your waste through avoiding unnecessary packaging and recycle what you do end up with. Awaken and inspire others by picking up trash when you see it lying around. Speak up about these issues with your friends and families and write letters to all levels of the government telling them the changes you want to see. And most importantly, reconnect whenever and wherever you can with mother nature herself. The minute you start to get closer with your natural roots and natural home, the minute you'll find it perfectly natural to always take care of it.
