The Hands of Industry
This photo is hot! Share it!
The stark hands, painted black, represent the oily grip of industrialization. These hands mercilessly take hold of mother nature. Forests are ripped down, water is polluted, the natural beauty that surrounds us is fighting a losing battle everyday against the force of factories.
I set up this shot in an abandoned factory. This building, which is now filled with deteriorating walls and scrap metal, sits on a lot that was once a forested patch of land. It truly is a shame.

If they are valuable, then they are being used - what value do they have if not?
You are aware that before we had oil, it used to bubble up on its own and ruin water. -

To Cecil:
I will be sure to rephrase my description.
You make a good point about the oil, I didn't mean that our resources shouldn't be used at all, but the pollution is damaging to the environment, and that is something you can't deny.
It's not just about oil, though.
Industrialization causes forests to be ripped down, animals to lose their habitats, and many other harmful effects on the environment. When I imagine the future, I picture many skyscrapers, factories, and very little natural land, and that is an awful thought to me.
I am not saying there are not benefits to industry and technology. However, the focus on this is only on the negative side. Art is almost always one-sided, and my interpretation of this theme is no exception.
Thank you for challenging my concept, though. -

yeah, and its a shame that by buying cameras, clothes, and all other products that we dont make ourselves, we are fueling industrialization..its not really an oily grip though. more like...super-glue grip? it is sad we're pretty much run by it.
however the main reasons for deforestation of forests isnt for factories, its human settlement and then cattle farming. become a vegan?! ;)
beautiful photo...love the concept and the positive message behind it -
