The End of 926 South 10th Street

I was driving home from work late last February in Lincoln, Nebraska, when I saw a plume of smoke in the sky. I rushed home and grabbed my camera and my tripod and made my way to what was becoming a rather involved house fire. A large number of firefighters responded, along with two engines and a couple ladder units. A single firefighter sat down in the middle of the street and began sweeping the roof back and forth with the blast of his hose. I crept up behind him, tried not to slip (the temps were below freezing), set up my tripod, and took this shot. Shortly afterwards, the weight of the water filling the house blew the front door off it's hinges into the street, follwed by a torrent of water. I didn't get that shot -- I was too busy running.
To me, this firefighter seems so lonely in this shot, and his task looks nearly impossible.
