I was woken up by a loud noise early in the morning. I thought that someone had fallen down the stairs when I first heard the loud bang. I found out that it was the old tree in the corner of my yard I had seen earlier in the day leaning more than usual over the street. It had been raining really hard for days not only weighing down the tree, but also weakening the root system. Luckily it missed all the power lines, and my girlfriends car. Road flares are lighting the tree from behind.

The uncommon event unfolds in a sleepy community and turns into a plethera of color, emotions and drama. Great job capturing the giant fall.

the lighting mood of this shot is glorious. i feel a bit sadden by the loss of such a beautiful tree and the glow of the light flare is symbolic of a cut or rupture.

A great capture of a tragic event. The lighting provided by the road flares gives the scene a dreamlike effect. Voting yeah
