The story I was told was that in order for the lumber companies to harvest the trees they had to pay for the thinning of certain forested areas. This helps with forest fires that have been suppressed for decades, not allowing them to escalate to fire storms.

    Lumber companies are not the saints they would like us to believe. This shot is so very satisfying in every way. The smoke chokes me.
