The flamingo would be white were it not for the diet high in alpha and beta carotenoid pigments. So, I thought it appropriate to photograph it in Black & White and take away its orange feathers. I was not in the wilds; rather, I was at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, but I was patient - stooping down on cracking knees with one eye squinting until my flamingo subject made this loop. Snap, bang, and ensuing dark room amazement after a couple of dodges and burns. Black & White dress up affair, I think.
