many boarders of the States began here.

This chisled square granite survey monument is located in the field west of the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, St. Augustine, Florida.

This one is interesting to me as it is one of a few remaning original Survey Monuments used to create our US state boarders.

set by surveyors since 1879, monuments like these are the basis for horizontal and vertical control for all the mapping done in the US.

Moving or disturbing these types of surveyors markers is a serious violation of a collection of federal, state, and local laws.
