I've noticed during my travels over the past five years, that farmers are increasingly seeing that the air above their farmland is just as fertile as the soil below. As you drive south through Iowa on Interstate 35, its now impossible not to notice the hundreds of tall white windmills that define the once flat landscape. Its no wonder then, that Iowa is now the third largest producer of wind energy in the United States.
Beyond the environmental benefits, I love the fact that these strangely beautiful rows of steel have encouraged me to explore a lot of back roads that I might never have seen.
