Summertime = watermelon

spitting seeds...
the juice running down your face after a hot summers day of playing under the sprinklers, nothing like watermelon fresh jucy watermelon...thats what summertime is all about!!





Every summer the watermelon sits in our back washtub, we as kids were out playing under the sprinklers loving life because nothing else mattered.

"Kids the watermelon is ready" my mother would call as my father would sit down in front of the melon with the knife cutting us all off a slice, he of course got the good bits, but boy oh boy was watermelon fun.

Us kids would sit and spit seeds at each other until our mother caught us and said "kids stop spitting those seeds".

The dogs would hang around our feet and eat any seeds that happened to fall on the ground. Knowing that the dogs ate watermelon seeds always amused me so i would store them up in my hand and feed them MANY watermelon seeds at once.

When we were finished with eating our watermelon, the juice all over our faces, arms and chest...we would return to the sprinkler where once again nothing else mattered but that moment right there.....summertime!!
