Meet Ginger.

I met Ginger on Wednesday, February 6th. Ash Wednesday. Ginger slept on the street on the Tuesday night..

When I met and chatted with Ginger I came over all grandfatherly and worried about her. However, that morning she had been admitted to a shelter. From what she said, I think I know which one. It's choosy (any drugs or booze and you're out) - and there's a tough but caring "house mother" and the girls look out for each other.

Everything she is wearing in this picture, she picked out of the clothing bin at the shelter.

She has:
- a crochet hat.
- a loose (too large) pullover.
- a sling bag (which she did already have).
- a jacket with a real (we think) fur collar.
- a really fancy, ornamental denim skirt.

I think she'd had her interview with the social worker and been given a little pocket money while her situation was assessed and the proper help could be found for her.

Ginger will be OK.
