The Long Way Home
I recently acquired a new fisheye lens. So lately I've been taking it everywhere with me and snapping away in an attempt at getting used to it and hopefully capturing something beautiful. Or at least close to nifty. Today was a day out and about with Isabella. It was all about "art". We had photos to choose matting and frames for, she needed new paints, brushes, and sketching pads, and me with my camera always. It was 97 degrees today. Seriously hot. After the long day of errands, fun, and art-filled adventures I took the long winding roads home. Isabella was sketching away in the backseat tired, but happy. I take this road every day on the way home from picking Isabella up from school. I always slow down and look up the grassy hill on the right. Today as the sun was starting to go down I pulled over and hopped out and decided to test the new lens once again. I laid down on the scorching hot asphalt in the middle of the road and directed my camera into the sun (I know!) and took a few different shots at long exposures. I could only take a few shots because the pavement was too hot for me to bear any longer. This photo was the result of a long, happy, art-filled day with my daughter. I look at this photo and I see a lot of similarities between it and my relationship with Isabella. It was a long, beautiful day with a gorgeous ending.

You should have a great time experimenting with your new fisheye lens and creating some unique and artistic concepts with it. This image is an great start. Just remember, "Thinks are closer then they appear"

Watch out Peggy Sue-that lens can be addictive :)
I like your low angle to the road and colors that help to portray this past weekend's heat spell. -

I really like the saturated colors. Looks like crossed processed Velvia or something.

Peggy Sue, at this instance, I almost wish I could have read your description before seeing the image. You tell of your photos so well. Its one of the things that I love most about photography. The small stories behind every shot. There is nothing better to me than to listen to a photographer speak about one of his/her photographs and you do it so well. I often wish that I could hear the story before seeing it. Sometimes I wish not to see it at all. Just keep it, liked a wrapped gift, for some other time. Well done.

You know I like the story more than the image, not that there's anything wrong with it. Playing with the hue (I guess) to create the colours was intuitive, but the story of the relationship with your daughter says more.
