This photo and the accompanying story inspires a lot of questions. Why was a tiger freely roaming city streets? Why would someoone approach a stray tiger on the streets, and why would a person casually photograph her friend as a tiger chews her fingers off?
While the title of the story refers to the situation as a tragedy I think the images and the story make light of a very serious situation. Does the quest for a great image relieve us as photographers of the responsibility to assist our fellow human beings when they are in danger?
The photographer refers to the victim as her friend. I would seriously question the friendship of anyone who stood by taking photographs while I was being eaten alive by a wild animal. -

I don't think this is a wild tiger roaming the streets, It looks like a pet, and quite young at that. I'm sure no one in their right mind would approach a wild tiger. She's smiling, they are obviously playing. It's like my pit bull bites me when we're playing. He's a big kitten. Great job, P.H.
