Lemon and Paeroa bottle. Paeroa, New Zealand. 3rd in a series.
I've added this shot because I loved how the sky made it look like a freshly opened bottle of fizzy.
Apparently the drink was first marketed as Paeroa and Lemon at the turn of last century. It provided a refreshing alternative to beer for local gold and coal miners. A formal test of the medicinal qualities of the spring water in the town gave very high praise. If found in Europe this would have been a great money spinner. However the 'tendency of the Empire's outlying settlers towards tea would mean such a business would likely fail miserably'. Soft drink seems to have worked well though!
