  love this shot...nice and grainy...makes me think someone might get "whacked" in that doorway or in back alley out of shot...you know Goodfellas style!

  if you are using a film camera, when there is bright sunlight like this, either set it to auto exposure and point it at the brightest spot to set the exposure, then move your camera to compose your shot and take the photo, this way you don't get a large empty (white) area in your photo.. or set the exposure manually, opting for a smaller aperture and a shorter shutter speed!
