PROJECT: IDAHO (THREESOME)
The 17th of may was announced as the International Day Against Homophobia.
Homophobia (from Greek homós: one and the same; phóbos: fear, phobia) is a term used to describe irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuals. It can also mean "irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals". Homophobic is the adjective form of this term used to describe the qualities of these characteristics while homophobe is the noun form given as a title to individuals with homophobic characteristics.
International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) is celebrated May 17.
The international day against homophobia aims to coordinate international events to call respect for lesbians and gays world-wide. Unlike the LGBT Pride Day, which is meant to emphasise proudness of one's sexuality and refusal to be ashamed of it, IDAHO is held to highlight: "... that in reality it is homophobia that is shameful and must be deconstructed in its social logic and fought against openly."
May 17 was chosen as the day of the event because homosexuality was removed from the International Classification of Diseases of the World Health Organization (WHO) on May 17, 1990.
It should also be noted that on May 17, 2004, Massachussetts became the first state in the United States of America to legalize same-sex marriage.

Beautiful example of the human form...Contropasto at it's best! Love the use of the gestural drawings on the canvas as the background...brilliant and the lighting of the figure brings back many long hours in the figure studio....makes me want to pull out my charcoal box once again.
