The Right Stuff
The Bell X-1 ("Glamorous Glennis"). Chuck Yeager became the first human to break the sound barrier in controlled, level flight in this plane on 14 October 1947. It is now in the Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian in Washington, DC.
