Mama Skeeter
Mouthparts of a female mosquito at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. Mom pushes that long probe into your skin to get a blood meal for her developing eggs. Dad is off drinking nectar from flowers -- wonder if he has a remote in one hand?

I was quite concerned at first when I saw this pic, noting that you are a retired Epidemiologist. Was curious from the bowels of what hideous creature this oddity had been rendered! I am, therefore, both horrified AND relieved this is the depiction of our old friend, the blood sucking, mini-Vampire; the humble mosquito! This is a very nicely composed, minimalistically colored shot, and a wonderfully odd portrait!!!

Nice shot! She's quite large & would probably give me West Nile for sure! ;-)
