There is a viewpoint in San Luis Obispo County that captures the essence of the Central Coast of California. It's called the Cuesta Ridge. You can basically see all the cities in the county. In this shot it is a view of Morro Bay and the ocean during sunset.

The dirt road leading up is a bumpy ride but once you are ontop you forget everything. It's beautiful. I come up as much as possible, usually four or five times a month.
