If you love an image (whether it's yours or someone else's) and want to make sure others get a chance to see it, you can “feature” it by choosing the “Spotlight” button.
When an image is Spotlighted, it receives enhanced visibility in premium spots throughout the site. Spotlighted images are rotated through these higher-visibility positions to ensure the best opportunity for the images to be seen by JPG users.
If you see a great photo that would make a perfect entry for one of our Shoot Out photo contests but it was uploaded by another user, now you can enter that photo in the contest and, if it wins, you get to share in the contest winnings.
Like a photo editor, if you've got an eye for great work, find it and submit it to a contest. If it wins, since you staked the entry fee, you'll take home part of the prize (the rest, of course, goes to the member who shot the image).

"Dance can embody or express ideas, emotions or tell a story..." (from Wikipedia)
i'm back from Dubai, UAE... after about ten days :)
the desert safari in Dubai concludes with a belly dance show, performed Live by an energetic and beautiful dancer :)
as the dance progresses, the dancer 'pulls' in people from the audience, which includes 'mesmerized men' and women :)
i did not photograph the lady bellydancer, for my own reasons, but when a male dancer arrived, wearing a very interesting outfit, i decided to take some photos :)
i stood quitely closer to the dancing area, for quite sometime, figuring out how to capture the fleeting moment (and the whirling dancer as a key part of it) :)
suddenly, i came up with an idea of slowing down the shutter, to make things abstract and more dramatic :)
the idea actually came from a set of Kohi's photos from the UK, in which he had captured dancers in a similar way :) so thanks to him and his ideas :)
i also remember him saying,"don't take a picture, take an idea instead and let a picture come out of it." :)
the shutter was kept open for one second, and i consider myself lucky for nailing the dancer right in the center, despite the one-second-shutter and the ever-so-heavy camera+lens duo :)
this is the original composition, no crop, no fancy stuff :)
thanks for viewing :) let's see what you think of this one :)
p.s. the title comes from Bruce Springsteen's new album 'Magic' :)
