Built in 1893, the Grand Opera House was the center of the culture and art for all of the rural communities around Stevens Point, WI. Located in the center of downtown, the Grand Opera House boasted a large array of shows and acts playing throughout the year.
For 10-30 cents each, the well off could afford to see famous entertainers and politicians from across the country, including traveling companies of Broadway shows, presidential candidates, and even magician Harry Houdini.
The opera house was later converted into the Fox Theatre, where teenagers and adults alike could see a Pathe newsreel, cartoon, short film, and a feature film for a dime a ticket.
After the Fox closed in 1985, the building has spent the last two decades standing as an empty and neglected reminder of good times gone by.
