Upside-down, "Speed Limit 40", that's pretty clear. Right side up, I think it said "NO TRESPASSING PROPERTY OF ..." ...we just don't know! Found on a trail on the Mohawk River in Niskayuna, NY. I think it was guarding part of the old canal or lock system. Heavens, the history here!
