When I first became interested in photography, I took many self portraits.
I liked how I could convey a meaning with just one facial expression. During my journey, I met many other photographers, who became my mentors and in return I modeled for them. Many have remarked on my eyes being my strongest feature. I believe that they were right. To me, my eyes are my most important feature as without them I couldn’t become a visual artist. This is why I chose to focus this image on my eyes. By utilizing the red patch over one of my eyes, I am trying to shock my audience and make them ask some questions. I have been pondering these questions for a while now and needed to find a creative outlet to express them. What if I just had one eye? Would people be as open and helpful to me as they have been? Would I still model? At this point I am unable to answer these questions but I know one thing for sure.
If I had only one eye, I would still be a photographer.
