Dance with death

All you have to do is go out your door and play your I pod, or think about bold new photography as something more than a skate board. Funny thing about that meaning bold new world photography. Ever ask what it means?
For me its telling a their story for the love of it, I've often been scared while being in the zone because its real.. looking at what's real doesn't always have friendly faces.
If I inspire you. hen take the next step and jump. Make sure your camera is with you. You might want to record reality.
And don't expect an editor to get it. You you shot you are in a different world. There no ATM line, no traffic. Just something very real that can change for life forever.

Very powerful image! Everything about it screams "look at me". The contrast is great and the children in the background adds to that ominous feeling.

"Here's a song about every cowboy's real first love. It's not his horse, it's not his girl, and it's not his pick-up truck. Where have I heard that before? I sing this song a little different everywhere I go. This is the way them old boys down in Texas like to hear it."
"I was born and raised way out west
But the thing I love 'bout livin' here best
It ain't the mountains, the valleys, the hats, or the boots
It's havin' plenty of guns and something to shoot
We got shotguns and sixguns, we got a shipload of guns
Shootin varments and critters, is a shitload of fun
I don't care about the money, I don't care about the loot
Give me Jack Daniel's whiskey and something to shoot
Now there's a whole herd of elk, right there in a line
But it's a pain in the ass to shoot 'em one at a time
And I'm way below quota; I've had a bad day
Boy what I wouldn't give for just one hand grenade
I don't care about the future, I don't care about the past
As long as I've got some creatures to blast
We got deer, we got elk, we got ol' owls that hoot
And when I've killed them all, they'll be Yankees to shoot
Don' 'cha tailgate me son get off my back
I gotta thirty-ought-six right here in the rack
And this ain't New Jeresy; We don't honk, we don't yell
And if you touch that bumper I'll blow you to hell
"Everybody sing a long with me now"
I was born and raised way out west
And the thing like 'bout livin' here best
It ain't the mountains, the valleys, the hats, or the boots
It's havin' plenty of guns and something to shoot

Essentialy human, unfortunetly. Excellent shot.
Human beings we alll are like this.
Homo homine lupus say the older ones: men are a wolf to the other men.
We are just a primate especimens and survival instincts betrayed us tooo much frequently.
Bravo for your photojournalism. -

I often question whether or not I have the guts to enter a world like this and photograph it. I don't think I could stomach it for very long out of fear but I admire those photojournalists who can. I once declined taking a tv live truck into an inner city neighborhood after some rioting because I didn't want to get my ass shot because I was a sitting duck target. One crew had already been shot at earlier in the day. Management bought us some body armour after that. Anyway, I salute you, Glenn, and others like you.

Most of us do not understand the way of life there just as they don't understand our way of life here. They know no different. We can't really judge them because it's not our place to judge, but how will they learn the peace within their own hearts with all the violence that surrounds them everyday. This violence is taught from both sides of the world and we can't understand why they won't listen to our reasoning. This picture shows what is an everyday scene for these people and lets all pray that some day they might know the freedom we all take for granite.

So much to wonder - why is he there like that - is it anger, is it fear, is it power. And the lessons being learned every day by the little ones in the background? Incredible photo, Glenn.

Glenn-I like your "inner vision". Your images come from your heart, trying to show slices of humanity humanity, both the good side and the not-so-good side.

For the rent you are paying, you would think that it would be a safer neighborhood....poweful as always Glenn and thank you for yanking people's psyche's away from flower and puppy photography (not that it is a bad thing - before I catch hell) to see the face of another reality and for rocking the boat a little so that we all don't sit on just one side.
