Broken down

Far less trusting and caught in the flurry of our days, we've learned to ignore the needy and banish the weak to the shadows. Well, it's twelve fifteen on a Los Angeles summer day and shadows are at a premium in the city of demons in angels' clothing.

For those truly in need, sanctity is rare. While the morally bankrupt flourish, the Good Samaritan is few and far between. Acedia now defines haute culture. It's gone wholesale, ready to wear, and it's advertised as Chic.

We're rolling down a steep hill towards total apathetic reproach, and we're moving at the speed of light with no sign of a change in grade anywhere in the distance.

My intention is not to be bleak or despondent, but to open the eyes of my brothers and sisters. Is this the legacy we want to leave behind for our children? It's disheartening to think of how familiar a statement like that has become. People have been questioning the world they are sending their children into for as many generations back as I can think of. Why would they just question it? Why would they not act on it with the strength of an entire planetary population? What excuse do they have to mention dreams and aspirations for a better world, but leave them unfulfilled? We cannot follow these costly footsteps left in blood.

We cannot afford to look on mercilessly as our people beg for help. Let us help one another. Let us change our trajectory, and head towards something better...

together.
