This reminds me of some of the ocean shots in the Victory at Sea TV series from the early 50s.

Nelson-this reminds me of my first forays on a boat on the ocean. I would stay with a friend and his family near the Delaware Bay. Sometimes we would go out on their boat at night, their boat skipping over the waves and moonlight reflections. I loved it so much and would always look forward to each trip. I remember catching my first crab, first flounder, first clam, and first bluefish. As much as I enjoyed exploring fresh water streams, the salt water captured my imagination and harbored so many interesting creatures.

The light just plays across the photo... all the way to the horizon. Really amazing feelings it stirs... i think because the horizon is empty, it makes me think about the future and what may lie ahead... i love it.

Perfect. There's something wonderful about the sea at night. Its large expanse, the feeling of freedom and tranquility. The air moving across your face. The magic of the moonlight on the surface as you cut through it. Nelson, you took us all there.

How do we sail backwards, Nelson? I missed some landscapes, dropped some passions into depths they'll never survive, missed ports and sank in waters too shallow to call adventure. What I would give to take a few steps back, head away from where I ended up. But the sailor keeps moving with the winds and currents, calculating a destination I do not know, and this picture is like a map of my imagination, a point I can mix into my compass and say I am sailing to Possibility, that landing where every thought becomes a flight of fancy.
