The times when friendships fall apart are some of the most fascinating phases in life, even though the process can take years.
It seems the two most powerful influences on the demise of a friendship are drug addiction and co-dependance (money, well, that comes later in life). I used to stress about it . . . . but now I find myself thankful that someone is doing something, even if it is them taking a head first dive into a shallow river. Better to drop out and away than tread water. Those of us still huddled together around the fire can educate ourselves from the other’s mistakes. If you can’t help, you may as well watch em slip off one by one . . . . or of course, we could simply keep changing the subject, pretend that it isn't worth mentioning and that we’re immune to the vices of others, and essentially, await our turn.

sorry hadn't read the story Robert. Yes it is a hard thing. But people make choices the rest of can not understand, and we the same. It is one of those things, and hopefully we can learn from them.
