Stunning Vietnam
This young girl caught my attention while exploring the villages near Sapa in North Vietnam. The mark on her forehead is a form of cupping performed with the horn of an animal. It is not permanent and is intended to be medicinal.

So many times photographers take portraits of ethnic peoples focusing entirely on their faces-close up or with a long lens-which leaves the viewer without any context...this picture, happily, does not do that. The girls' environment is as much a part of the shot as her beautiful face. Kudos!

Wonderful image... IMHO I think the soft blur is a bit much though.
When I see strong images like this I prefer the natural National
Geographic documentary approach. -
