Mesa Arch sits perched on the canyon rim above Canyonlands National Park just so that when the sun first rises, the underside of the arch is lit up. This spectacular phenomenon is a very popular photo spot (there were at least 4,000 other photographers waiting to take this same pic with me).

In the The American Southwest photo essay.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!! Sorry to hear there were 4,000 people hanging around - rather ruins the serenity! Still, what a breath-taking scene and photo!
