When I was but a lad I was climbing a large maple tree in the back yard and had almost made it to the top when I fell. I can still remember hitting limb after limb on the way to the ground. Those limbs saved my life.
Since then I have not had a love affair with heights. In fact I became afraid of them. Then I decided one day many years ago to try and get over it. I now find that if I just give myself enough time I can climb lighthouses and stand out on those railings to admire the view (from against the wall), admire the steep drop offs as the taxi driver descends Gibraltar’s Rock, and take shots like this one (quickly).
