This crash, which took place in 1982, has been submitted for the "Close Call" Theme, which may seem surprising since it looks a lot worse than a close call - particularly for the passengers. It was, however, a close call for me personally in the sense that the crash occurred about 100 yards from my apartment. As I remember, it involved a small plane with about a half dozen passengers, including three prisoners in handcuffs. If I'm not mistaken, I believe most of them survived despite the resulting fireball.
