American History?

I love Ghost Towns, with a passion, but it's funny, although I've studied these places as a major part of modern American history, they're really world history.
They were inhabited by Changs from China, Larssons from Sweden, MacLeods from Scotland, Murpheys from Ireland, Schmidts from Germany and so on. All traveling to claim a piece of land, mine ore, build a new country and new lives.
So who's history is it.......

As always, comments appreciated, constructive, positive or negative.

Thanks for looking.

Nelson and I have discoverd we are distant cousins, both of the Campbell clan who left Scotland and tore into Ireland and made a lot of enemies - we stand quivering, wondering if we WANT to know any more of this shared history!

This photo captures the feeling of a ghost town better than words or movies ever could -- the dramatic contrasts make the buildings look like they could be blown away in a moment.........incredible work!
