Werner Neuhaus is a Swiss artist (from the village of Lyss) and now lives in the Emmental region of Switzerland. He stared down is artistic road in 1992. He really loves his gas masked creation featured here, but has found it hard to sell. In his words, his art expresses hopes and fears in the social with one another and with the relationship of humans and nature.
Inspired by the JPG Magazine theme challenge to meet someone new, I headed off on a short motorcycle road trip hoping to find a suitable situation to approach someone. Out of the corner of my helmet I noticed the sculpture featured here in my photograph. I couldn’t think of a better opportunity than to meet a fellow artist. Albeit he words in wood and not with a camera. Luck would have it that I stopped a lunch time and found the artist at home. He was happy to talk with me and discuss his works. I’m lucky he spoke English and just the local Swiss-German language. I don’t speak German.
