Coming out of a grocery store my son shouted "quick dad take a picture"
Parachutes are open and as they descend the red smoke flairs show the circular drop to earth...

Great title :) - what were they? I can see little black specks at the end of each squiggle. It seems more like leftover smoke, but are they planes?

Those specks are people in parachutes with red smoke they attach to enhance the show....
