After arriving rather late (yet still 45 minutes too early...) for the Canada Day fireworks, we were a little hard pressed for good sitting/photographing locations. We finally spied a nice big patch of grass that just happened to be right in the middle of a wonderful opening among the tree tops...or so we thought.

Usually the fireworks show is so big that you can actually see it from blocks and blocks away, but apparently debris complaints had been placed the previous year and the fireworks were no where near the height of every single previous year. So, what at first looked like a great opening in the sky to point my camera at and shoot away became the biggest obstacle of the evening. The fireworks show was set quite low, appearing among the tree tops and even the trunks of the trees surrounding our "perfect" little clearing. I moved around a lot, got yelled at a few times for blocking views, and finally settled on this spot where the show was hovering just above the tree tops. I really did not think I would get any salvageable photos, but to my surprise, there are a few that really work for me! I actually kind of like the silhouette of the leaves from the trees that edge into the fireworks.

Granted, it's not your typical beautiful blooming bouquet of colourful explosives, but it's fresh and new, and when I look at it from a different perspective, I really do like it!
