This is the original mast of the U.S.S. Tuscaloosa. She was commissioned August 17, 1934.
In 1944 she was involved with convey protection. She also took part in the strikes in Norway, in the invasion of Normandy and South France.
In 1945 she participated in the invasion of Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
She fought in four of the most crucial battles of the war.
The original mast that you see here, is on display in the center of Veterans Memorial Park in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
