When the television set stopped working at the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center in St. Joseph, Missouri, a repairman found these letters and diary entries stuffed into the back of the set by an inmate. One theory is that the inmate believed his shoved-in thoughts would be broadcast over the airwaves from this TV to living rooms everywhere, making his ideas and beliefs known to anyone around the world.
A generation later, this no longer seems like such a crazy idea.
