Palm Jumeirah, Dubai
These homes are part of the Palm Jumeirah development, the first of several enormous artificial islands being built off the coast of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
If you want to see some close up aerials of these houses; more aerial images of Dubai and the US; and tons of other stuff, please visit my website: www.heilner.net

This is absolutely insane, what next, will they artificially engineer perfect people to live in these houses???

I wonder is this is what our gas money is going towards. It's really cool, but I don't want to pay for someone else to invest that money and get even richer. Great shot though. I bet it was pretty neat to fly over that and see the whole thing.

Nice McMansions . Sad that people were actually sucked into that "beachfront property" greed-scam.

No boats. No one swimming. No wind surfers. No waves. No trees. Some houses have pools.

Eckie - Almost all of the houses have pools. You can't really see them in this view. In fairness, I think many of the owners haven't started using the houses yet; the trunk section of the island is still under heavy construction (luxury hotels and condos), though property owners are allowed through to get to their homes. A monorail is being built through the center of the island which will connect to another being built through central Dubai!

Yeah the photo rocks, but the islands suck! They are destroying the ecosystem of the coast!

Incredible photo, the angle you got is perfect.I was wondering why these people never give one cent to international help, now I can see, they need it to destroy they're coast line. We don´t now how to stop our CO2 emissions and look where that money goes.
