It is supposed to be a photo of my father blowing out the candles. I took it too early and never did figure out how to adjust the flash to accommodate the dark.
This photo is one of my favorites anyhow because of the subconcious capturing of the mixed feeling we feel about birthdays, for both the celebraters and the celebrated. A quick impersonal song, some sugar, and the birthday wish to be a year younger, not older.
