Her name was lola....
So, we were swimming around the Holiday Inn's lazy river in Ocean City and I spied this little gal stuck in the water. Wasn't sure if she was alive or dead...so I scooped her out and she twitched a bit. I took her out of the pool and tried to place her on the table...but it was windy and her wings were quite soaked so she was just getting blown around. I was afraid the wind would damage her already water-laden wings so I placed her back on my finger tips and made a wind barrier around us. She stayed there. Neatly drying her face with her front legs. When her top two wings dried, she lifted them in the air to allow the lower wings to dry more completely. It was time for us to go and she wasn't yet dry. I tried to place her on the table while I put my beach cover up on....but she flew...just far enough to land on the bottom of my dress. She stayed there for a moment til I was all set to go...then I reached back and she stepped onto my hand, again. Then I placed her on the top front of my dress. She stayed there through the lobby of the hotel til we reached the street. It was windy again here so I covered her with my hand to protect her. She climbed into my covered hand and stayed there for about 3 blocks. Finally, her wings were dried and she looked at me and then flew away.
I'd never held a dragonfly before. It was pretty cool.
