Q: My sister in-law recently gave me a Canon EOS 10D digital camera body. Having only used point and shoot cameras, what would be a good beginners lens to get for this camera? Should I get kit lens to start with?

Close up of dresser from the Baja miniature. These are family photos I reduced (my mom, my dad and me, and baby-me.) The two smaller frames are only 1/2" inch in height which gives you an idea of the scale here. The vintage postcards are real too (or, were. ) The bottles, I made from beads and the sunglasses came from a little doll.
In the end, it's almost harder taking photos of a miniature, than making it!
