Q: My sister in-law recently gave me a Canon EOS 10D digital camera body. Having only used point and shoot cameras, what would be a good beginners lens to get for this camera? Should I get kit lens to start with?

A: Do you know?

A few years ago I accidentally found this book, and I still believe it's one of the most interesting reads I ever had:

Lawrence Wright, "CiviltĂ  in bagno", 1960.

While the Italian edition is most probably unavailable, Amazon still seems to have it on sale as: "Clean and Decent: The Fascinating History of the Bathroom and the Water-Closet".

I would advice you to get hold of a copy and read this book, as you'll realize how recent our idea of cleannes is - and how very peculiar it is...
