the Basement
In the north of the Netherlands you can find several enforced houses called 'Borgen'.
I visited one of these 'borgen', namely Borg Herhildersum.
All the rooms were splendid, the garden very rich, the paintings on the walls of a very high quality but my favourite plave most have been it's basement. Slightly humid, low ceilings and spectacular soft light.
