Hal Saks of Brookside, N.J., a veteran from Chester Township's Bernays Apgar American Legion Post #342 incinerates weathered, tattered and torn American flags as part of a Flag Retirement Ceremony held in honor of Flag Day at Alstede Farms in Chester Township on Friday June 27, 2008. With the help of members of Chester Vol. Fire Co., veterans from the post facilitated the proper retirement of numerous American flags, a yearly tradition. The Chester Township post was chartered in June 1947, just after the end of World War II.
