After having gone through miles of red tape I finally got permission to shoot the Cairo Circus during practice hours. I was with a writer at the time and as we stood on the circus grounds negotiating our access to certain areas we can shoot in with circus officials. We both looked over to see a handful of workers carrying freshly skinned goats apparently heading to the lions cages for feeding time. This image stopped both of us in our tracks as it was arresting to say the least and we tried pushing along the talks so that we could photograph this amazing sight but as our photo restriction deal was still too precarious at that time and they obviously did not want us there in the first place we had to bite our tongues so as to not jeopardize our whole assignment. Alas we did not get the lion feeding shots but we did get other great shots of the animals and trainers at the circus including this one.
