Taken near Chiang Rai, Thailand. These kids belong to a group of people called the Akha's that are shunned by the governments of several countries, Thailand included. They are born in Thailand but not given citizenship. Their parents are poor and destitute, addicted to opium and left without hope for upward mobility. These kids grow up without access to proper education, and it's not uncommon for girls to be unwittingly sold into the prevalent sex trafficking industry.
Despite all this, they smile.
...why don't we smile more often?
