20-Year-Old Photographer's Serene and Haunting...

I did a series of these, and posted one below: http://www.jpgmag.com/photos/893749. It is dedicated to my husband, Jake.

THIS one is dedicated to photographer George Krause, whose work inspired this. He was my mentor and favorite photo professor through many years of university.

This is a hard self portrait to do. I could never exactly predict when that shutter would click, in relation to the position of the scarf!

I am pleased with the result here.

Super model thin has NEVER appealed to me, and since this is ME, I guess you can see that. Give me classic curves any day - skinny people seem a bit unnnatural to me - I like to eat!!!!

I am honored and humbled by the response to this piece. I have attempted over the years to create this photo, but until the age of the digital portrait, I simply could not do it all. Ironically, I did not use a dark room or film camera for this! I truly admire the classic female nude, and dark room work. If I can share my love of the classics, even using myself like this, with a new generation of photography fans, I will feel truly fulfilled.
