Atlas was created in 1937 by Lee Lawrie and Rene Chambellan. It sits across from St. Patrick's Cathedral in front of the International Building. I believe I read someplace that this statue raised eyebrows back when it was built because of a resemblance to Mussolin

This is a very commanding shot. It makes me think of the final act of Don Giovanni by Mozart and the statue that brings doom. Beautiful job.
